Kingdom Over Culture
Welcome to 2021. It seems like even before we can get a thought out, society has canceled it. Who is society, anyway? As Christians, don’t we belong somewhere else? (See John 17:16.)
Never forget, we’re in this world, but we’re not of this world. That’s why secular culture should never define who we are as Christians. It’s a massive mistake to be swayed by popular opinion.
I know many people think the whole “cancel culture” movement isn’t a big deal, but if you’re a child of God, it is. We are raising a generation that is quick to be offended, quick to live in the past, and quick to hold a grudge. As a believer, that is very dangerous ground. Those choices will hinder your prayers from being answered, miracles from operating in your life, and will keep you out of the presence of God.
I’m going to give you three reasons why you shouldn’t be a part of the cancel culture movement.
Offense is so dangerous because it can stop the blessings of God from flowing in your life. It’s one of the most potent weapons that Satan uses to steal people’s destiny and destroy their lives in these last days.
The devil can trap you through offense, and when that happens you begin to feel anger and resentment. Criticism builds up which ultimately leads to division, rebellion, and fighting. Does that remind you of our current culture?
Those feelings are the exact opposite of the fruit of the Spirit (the traits that should govern our lives). When you spend more time reading the Word of God than listening to the media and society’s opinions, you won’t let deceit creep in.
John 14:15 says, “If you love me, obey my commandments.” Compare that to Psalm 119:165. “Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them.
When you love the Word, love to obey, love to keep his instructions in your heart and only please Jesus, great peace will be yours.
Don’t let the lies of this world steal what the Lord has provided for you. Offense will hinder the miracles you want to receive. Offense is an action, but being offended is a choice. Someone may commit an offense against you, but you can choose whether or not to be offended by it.
This is another thing cancel culture wants you to focus on—always looking back over your shoulder. Did you know the only memories of the past you should have are the day you were saved and any marvelous testimonies God gave you? (See Revelation 12:11.)
Other than that, the past is a trap sent by Satan to keep you from growth, greater faith, and knowing who you are in Christ.
Satan wants you to remember all the mistakes you have made in life. He wants you to constantly second guess yourself. Rather than focusing on the past, Jesus promises us a future (a really great one, too).
Jeremiah 29:11 says, “’For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’”
He doesn’t torture us with regret and shame. Christ set us free, and we must stand firm (Galatians 5:1) It’s time to rise up to new levels of faith. Forget the past. Your faith doesn’t operate in the past; it is the creative power to define your future!
Many people ruin their health and their lives by taking the poison of bitterness, resentment, and unforgiveness. It’s a nasty root that can grow and stick around for many years.
The three points that I’m describing in this article are all traps sent by the enemy to cause death and destruction in your life.
He wants to bring death to your faith, death to your miracles, and death to your increase. Mark 11:22-26 clearly teaches us that unforgiveness will hinder the operation of our faith. How can your heavenly Father forgive your sins if you don’t forgive other people?
Don’t let this cancel culture take root in your life. Don’t become easily offended and hurt. Don’t look at the past or hold unforgiveness in your heart.
You are not called to be culturally correct or politically correct. As a child of God you are to be scripturally correct. As long as you hide the Word of God in your heart, you will be an imitator of Christ on this earth. We are called to stand out, not join the masses. It’s time to take a stand against cancel culture and promote Kingdom Culture!
Love you,
Carolyn
